LI Attorney Charged With Stealing $2M From Client
A Suffolk County lawyer, Vincent Trimarco, has been charged with stealing $2M from the proceeds of a settlement of a wrongful death action. Scott Eriksen died in 2005 while in the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department for a misdemeanor drug charge. Mr. Eriksen had a daughter (determined to be the sole heir) and a father who was the Executor of his son's Estate. Once the wrongful death case was settled for $3M, it is alleged that the attorney conspired with the father to convert the $2M client proceeds to purchase expensive cars, properties and a nightclub. All of these transactions were allegedly done despite a Surrogate's Court Order which had directed the the victim's grandfather/Executor to turn over the $2M to his granddaughter.
Interestingly, it is also alleged that the attorney ultimately defrauded even his co-conspirator and took all the funds.
