Manhattan Attorney Disbarred For Deceiving Client and Court
It was reported in today's New York Law Journal that a Manhattan elder law attorney was disbarred following his plea of guilty to criminal possession of a forged instrument and offering a false instrument to a Court. According to papers filed in Court, this Manhattan attorney filed forged receipts and forged probate forms to Surrogate's Court in 2014. It was claimed that the attorney lost a client's Last Will and Testament and in the attempt to cover up his mistake, resorted to deceptive tactics over the course of one year. It had been reported by the Daily News last year that the attorney misled his deceased client's family claiming multiple excuses for the delays in their case, including an absurd claim that the Court had required the will to be published in the New York Law Journal.
