Trump Palace Settles Accident Claim for $2.9 Million
It was reported in the 2017 New York Jury Verdict Review that a 44 year old laborer working on a rolling scaffold fell 6 feet onto the sidewalk suffering injuries to his ankle, cervical and thoracic spine. The laborer, Ivan Dorador filed suit against Trump Palace Condominium (Trump Palace), claiming that he was not provided with proper safety equipment to prevent the scaffolding from slipping as required under New York's Labor Law.
Mr. Dorador had successfully argued that New York's Scaffold Law imposed a duty on Trump Palace to provide the equipment necessary for the laborers to safely work on the scaffold. In April 2014, a Manhattan Supreme Court Judge ruled that Trump Palace was responsible for the accident leaving the amount of damages for a jury to determine at trial. It then appealed the ruling which was denied on March 24, 2015. Trump Palace settled the case prior to trial on October 4, 2016.
