Jury Awards $6M Against Paramedic Who Improperly Placed Breathing Tube Causing Death of 20 Year Old Mom
On September 26, 2017 a Trenton, New Jersey jury found in favor of the family of a 20 year old woman who had collapsed and was intubated by a paramedic before her arrival at the hospital.. Unfortunately, the endotracheal tube was not placed down the trachea (breathing tube) but instead the tube was placed in the esophagus thru which food passes to the stomach. As a result, the mother, who had just delivered a baby one week earlier, died. The jury awarded $4 million to the mother's Estate and $2 million to the baby who was 5 years old as of the date of trial.
